Laura Eden

Laura Eden is the Corporate Director of Children and Young People in Newham where she has been in post since April 2024. Prior to this she was the Director of Safeguarding from March 2020 to March 2024 and the Director of Youth and Communities between July 2018 and March 2020 in Islington.  Laura qualified as a Social Worker in 1999 and has always been a firm believer in relationship-based practice. She contributed to the introduction of the Motivational Practice Model, a trauma informed relationship-based practice model which took Islington to an Outstanding rating in its last inspection. She is passionate about challenging inequalities and tackling racism and discrimination in all its forms with a focus on addressing the disproportionality and disparity that exists in our systems to improve the lives of children, young people and families.  Laura has 4 boys, aged 19, 16, 14, 8 and a very large dog who keep her busy when she isn’t at work!
